MISSION

Jiva was founded with the mission developing authentic learning. Authentic learning means learning from your own unique experiences and applying this knowledge to real-life problems. Our objective of increasing awareness through self-knowledge is a response to the growing number of people who are living ‘in the mind’, people who feel busy all the time, and ailments such as anxiety, depression and burn-out. By 2025 Jiva strives to see twice as many people who live and learn authentically as today. Thereby promoting well-being.

About Jiva

Jiva is an initiative that guides you in living authentically. A process is started in which learning is key. This learning process can involve becoming aware of the present moment, living in the here and now (meditation), improving your focus and physical condition (yoga), cultivating high quality relationship with self and others, and being in alignment with your goals and dreams (coaching). For Jiva, learning is a constructive, cumulative, self-directed and individually different process of developing skills and acquiring knowledge and meaning.

Vision

‘Being yourself’ means developing in your authenticity. When you live a life aligned with your values you are being you at your deepest level.

Meaning of the name Jiva

The Sanskrit word jīva refers to the individual self and the immortal essence of its soul. The word jīva comes from jivás, a Sanskrit word with the root jīv- which means “to breathe”. So a soul in a body which breathes is called a “jīva”. In ancient scriptures jivas are a subject to attachment, ignorance and delusion. Although being a subject to the triple impurities, it is believed that a jīva has a divine nature.
